Who we are
Opa Locka Jet Charter arranges private charter flights to and from Opa-locka and the rest of the Miami area, and on to anywhere you need to go from there. We are a US-based private air charter broker, headquartered in the Philadelphia region, with team members and affiliates around the world, and we have been arranging private flights since 2012. Someone answers the phone at any hour, on any day of the year.
Our Miami clients fly for all kinds of reasons. Some run businesses in Brickell or Doral and need to be in New York or Bogota by lunchtime. Some keep a second home in Aventura, Bal Harbour or Sunny Isles Beach and come down for the winter. Others are flying in for a race weekend at Hard Rock Stadium, a week of Art Basel or a family celebration. Tell us the dates, who is traveling, where you are going and what everyone is bringing, and your advisor will find the aircraft, check the operator and look after the details until you land.
What we arrange
Most of our work is on-demand charter. You have the whole aircraft for your trip, and we arrange it with the operator from start to finish. We also arrange:
- Group charter for families, event groups and company travel
- Aircraft sales and acquisition for clients considering ownership
- Aircraft management for existing aircraft owners
- Air cargo charter for time-critical freight
- Non-emergency medical transport for passengers who need medical support on board
Flying through Opa-locka
Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport (OPF) is about ten miles north of downtown Miami and is the Miami area’s main airport for private and business aviation. There are no airline flights, and US Customs is on the field, so international trips can clear on arrival. The airport is about four miles from Hard Rock Stadium and roughly nine to ten miles from Aventura, Bal Harbour and Sunny Isles Beach, which makes it a natural choice for north Miami-Dade and the beaches.
Depending on where you are headed, Miami International, Miami Executive in south Miami-Dade or Fort Lauderdale Executive can make more sense, and your advisor will compare them for your trip. The runway an aircraft needs is calculated by the operator for that day’s conditions, and we confirm it with the operator before you book.
From Opa-locka, Nassau is about 160 nautical miles away and the New York area about 950. A light jet covers the Bahamas and most of the East Coast, Colombia and Central America suit a midsize jet or larger, the West Coast calls for a super midsize jet, and Sao Paulo or Europe calls for a long-range jet.
Who we work with
Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them. Wyvern is an independent aviation safety organization that audits how brokers work and keeps records on operator safety, and holding that membership means our own practices are audited too. Before we send you any options, we confirm the operator’s certification, look at their safety and incident history, and check that the pilots are experienced and current on the aircraft type they will be flying.
We work with FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft. Part 135 is the FAA’s set of rules for on-demand, for-hire charter, and it carries stricter operating, crew, and insurance requirements than FAR Part 91, the rules for private, non-commercial flying that cannot be sold as charter. When your total passenger count outgrows a heavy jet and the group consists of more than nineteen passengers, the aircraft required would fall into regional airliner, or airliner-size. These trips would no longer fall under the FAR Part 135 standards but possibly operate under FAR Part 121 or foreign equivalent standards. Part 121 and equivalent generally carry stricter crew and operating requirements than FAR Part 91 and FAR Part 135.
We have also been a member of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) since 2012.
